This week was one of many firsts.
The biggest one?
The first day of preschool.
Our oldest boy headed off, last Tuesday, to the first of his two mornings each week of preschool. He was beyond excited. A teacher. Friends. A playground. Crafts.
He donned his new backpack (“my ECO-pack, Mama!“) and literally skipped out the door.
His first two days were perfect, according to both Troy and his sweet teacher and he asks, each morning, how many more days until he gets to go back to school.
No, I didn’t cry when I left him in his classroom.
But I came pretty close to it. Ahem.
So, along with school comes… lunches.
In preparation for school starting, I did a bit of Etsy browsing, looking for handmade lunch sacks that were both cute and easy to clean.
I was thrilled to find Moja Creations and their simply adorable lunch and snack bags!
These bags are very eco-friendly–not only are they reusable and thus reduce waste, but they’re completely free of lead, BPA, OR phthalates.
Moja Creations has agreed to give away not just one, but TWO of their snack bags to one happy commenter here! The winner will choose any combination of the snack size, small size, or sandwich wrap.
To bring home two reusable cloth snack bags for you and your little people, just leave a comment on this post, telling me what you usually eat for lunch.
I usually have a chicken salad these days. Or leftovers of some sort.
If I eat lunch, that is.
{I try! I really do!}

We eat leftovers almost every day….We are saving money every way possible… this is one of the best way – once a month we treat ourselves to eating out for lunch – our lunch date :)

Wow! what a great idea! I send my husband off to work daily, and the amount of baggies I use is quite ridiculous!!
What I tend to eat for lunch, are sandwiches, salads, sometimes soup, I usually try to eat some yogurt, a slice (or a few) of fruit, and sometimes a cookie (or two (-: ) I try to make my lunch the biggest meal of the day, because keeping up with two little squirts is hard work!! As for Husband, the possibilities are endless, from homemade egg rolls, to chicken wraps and sandwiches…it’s particularly challenging when he has to eat all his meals there! (and, that’s a lot of baggies too) (which we try to reuse, but that only goes so far when you have leftovers!)
I love this idea, I would never have thought to look on etsy for this type of thing!

Good job on not crying! :)
I usually take leftovers to work, and I send a sandwich, veggies and jello with the hubby. We sure could use some of these reusable bags, I spend way too much $$ on baggies!

Hi Ashleigh!
Hm. For lunch? Most days it’s salad made with organic veggies, walnuts, and yummy wheat crackers. And followed up by a homemade fruit smoothie. However, as of late, life has been busyyyyy and my lunch on Friday was a granola bar and yogurt. :O)
Hope you are doing well! So excited to see the cute pics of your big boy off to school!

Oh he look just so HAPPY. LOVE.
I think I eat…um…string cheese? Heh.
Most times a salad. On worse days Reeces.
I love that he loves it so much, too. YAY!
[Reply]
Too cute! He looks so grown up!
We eat a lot of quesadillas for lunch. I can slip in more veggies and good things if it’s sandwiched between buttery crunchy goodness! :)

Your “little” man is looking SO grown up! I can’t believe how much they grow, and how fast. I forget how long I’ve read your blog, but it’s so neat to see other people’s kids grow up, too. He is so handsome!
Well, because I’m on a “preggo diet” I don’t get to eat anything tasty. Mostly salads, salmon, fish, or whatever other low(er) carb stuff I can find. Almonds and cheese. My little eats whatever I feed him for the most part. PB and honey sandwiches are what we’re working on getting him to like. He loves hummus, so we do that often.

For lunch I often eat a sandwich with whole wheat bread, mustard, a touch of mayo, and some freshly sliced turkey from the deli. On the side I’ll have some fruit or raw vegetables.
[Reply]
Wow. What a handsome guy you’ve got there! :)
I eat a good variety for lunches. Yesterday it was Irish Stew. Definitely not the best Irish Stew I’d made, but considering I was improvising, it tasted pretty close to what it was suppose to in spite of key ingredients gone missing.

This year my 10-yo is trying out the school cafeteria lunches – thus far I am not impressed. We’ll see, but I KNOW the amount of plastic bags or wrap used for lunches is just awful. I have wanted to try out re-usable sources for a long while. I usually eat a lean cuisine for lunch. I know – I know… :D
thanks for the opportunity – and letting us know about Moja’s site.
I’ll have one in pre-school in about two years…! Your son looks adorable – so happy to be going to school!

How cute is he?! Love it! Most days, at least during summer months, I eat chicken salad or hummus and crackers and some fruit. That’s pretty standard around here. :)
[Reply]
It’s leftovers around here!

Oh wow! What can be more sweeter? I just love when they first start school how proud and big they feel as they come to me for the first time, see their desk, name tag, and cubby…love it.
Does he go Tuesday and Thursday? And is he in k4? At our school we have k4 and k5 and k4 goes two days a week and k5 goes the other three.
Please enter me in the contest! ;)
Too adorable!

For lunch? I NEVER MISS IT! Apples, yogurt and leftovers.
[Reply]
Typically leftovers, but if we don’t have any, a sandwich or if I’m not on top of things, oatmeal for my husband.
P.S. When did Troy get so big???

And a big pat on the back to you for not crying. Not sure I could have done that!

I won’t enter the giveaway, thank you, just because I know I won’t be putting the ADORABLE sacks to good use for a number of years and I’d rather someone else enjoyed them now! :) But … wow … your little boy is looking so grown up now!!!

I eat leftovers. The kids? Peanut butter and chocolate chip sandwiches. My oldest starts Young 5s today and I’m so excited and nervous for him.
I really, really hope we don’t have a nut free classroom because he loves his peanut butter!
[Reply]
I usually eat leftovers. :-) My husband gets sandwiches (of various types), fruit, a granola bar, a cookie, celery with cream cheese (one of his favorite snacks), and whatever else happens to be on sale when we go shopping. Like Jamie (2nd from the top), we go through too many baggies!

I would love to try these! I try to avoid things I have to throw away for preschool lunches, their trash can is always full up!
I usually have leftovers for lunch or a sandwich.

I send my husband leftovers for lunch everyday. He’s gluten free so bringing his lunch is the best option. I usually pack his lunch in a pyrex dish with a tight fitting plastic lid. They are microwave, oven, and freezer safe and they last forever. I still use some from when my oldest was a baby. So much better than gladware!!
At home, the children and I rotate through a pretty simple lunch menu. My favorite lunch is cheesy rice. I cook brown rice in the rice cooker. The children top it with shredded cheese and taco sauce. Brown rice combined with cheese creates a complete amino acid. It’s very healthy, very cheap, and very easy.

These lunch sacks are SO cute!
my normal lunch? As of late, it’s either a cup of soup or fruit and a nut-mix from Trader Joes…. :-)
[Reply]
I usually eat sandwiches on my homemade bread! Delicious. And those sandwich bags are exactly what I’ve been looking for!

Usually, I eat leftovers for lunch. Whatever that happens to be. Or else they never get finished.
However, this week, I don’t want to eat anything for lunch. I’m considering not eating ever again. The flu will do that to you. :p

I normally have a bowl of soup with blue chip tortillas or a vegetable stir fry for lunch during the week. I like to make 2 different batches of soups and then alternate days, so I don’t get tired of one. For the stir fry, I buy a large bag of organic veggies from Costco and then add sauce to spice it up. It’s great for me and very cost effective!
