A symbol of moving forward.
We’re all moving forward, because we could never go back.
We would never want to go back.
It’s now been a year since things were normal… a year ago today, we were all at Disneyland together, celebrating Merritt’s birthday.
The boys haven’t seen their grandfather since that day. Troy still asks where he is… does he live at the fire station now?… if he’s coming back… if he loves us.
But Merritt doesn’t remember him. At all. Can’t even point to him in a picture.
So we keep moving forward. Healing. Loving each other. Laughing. Making a new normal. Trying to figure this whole mess out.
Wondering if we ever will.
A week from now, we’ll be accompanying my mom on her way across the country, following the sunset and a dream of a new future… a happy future.
She’s already said she’s heading to Nebraska… and that there’s a story. So go, hear her story.
It’s a good one.

My heart is full of hope for your family and for your mother as you move forward following God’s leading.
Despite the hurt and tragedy that you all have experienced this past year God has been glorified by your responses in the midst of raw pain. May He continue to soothe your hearts, turn tears into laughter, and most of all faithfully show His goodness.

God is gracious. He takes our hurts, tears and pain and lovingly weaves it together into something beautiful.
And that something beautiful is your Mom, your brother, your husband and you as He conforms you all to the image of His very own, beloved Son through this trial.
How graced are we to bear His image!
Ash, keep reflecting the love of Jesus to your babies that they may see Jesus through you and in you and may they come to His saving grace too.

:)…love the signifigance. The beautiful scarf, which was started out by one set of hands, was left with just loose strings and seemingly no direction, for a time it was tucked away and forgotten. But when it was found, the started work with it’s loose and unraveling strings were picked up and worked in by one who loved and cared, it didn’t become a completely new thing…you considered and studied until you figured out how to pick up the pieces and move forward with the original vision- contributing to a beautiful finished work. Love that Omaha seems to hold the hands that will pick up the loose unraveling strings….
